Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company is developing mGluR2 PAM under a 2004 agreement with Addex. The lead indications for this project include anxiety and schizophrenia. Several series of mGluR2 PAMs were discovered and the lead product, ADX71149, entered the clinic in mid-2009.

In 2007 Addex completed its responsibilities in the discovery phase of the agreement. Preclinical and clinical development are Johnson & Johnson’s responsibility, although Addex will participate via a joint steering committee. Addex is eligible for undisclosed milestone and royalty payments. To date, Addex has received a €3 million upfront payment, €4.3 million in research funding and a €1 milllion milestone payment when ADX71149 entered the clinic in June 2009.
