group leader, analytical chemistry

We are seeking an experienced analytical and preparative chemist with a strong background in HPLC/UPLC/LCMS instrumentations to support discovery chemistry programs. The successful candidate will have a passion for developing general, robust methods and implementing new technologies to aid medicinal chemists with the analysis and purification of small molecules for drug discovery.

Responsibilities:

You will lead a team of 6 scientists to support open-access analytical instruments, user training, technology assessment, and method development.

You will partner with project teams to solve analytical problems. You will seek out new technologies to enable synthetic chemists to efficiently analyze and purify their small molecule samples.

Your team will be responsible for installing and maintaining walk-up analytical systems, developing new methods for these systems and creating or providing data processing/analysis solutions.

You will partner with internal/external analytical experts to make available rapid physical property measurements.

You will be in charge also of the compound & corporate library Management.

Requirements:  

Qualified candidates should possess a PhD with 5-7 years and work experience in a pharmaceutical, analytical research and development laboratory with demonstrated success in solving analytical problems. Supervisory experience is required (2-3 yrs).

The successful candidate will be an experienced analytical chemist with a passion for developing general, robust methods and implementing new technology to aid medicinal chemists with the analysis and purification of small molecules for drug discovery.

Significant understanding of chromatography, spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and physical characterization methods is required.

Proficiency in automated data analysis is a plus. Experience with high throughput analysis is desirable. Experience in managing and mentoring a team of other scientists is desired.

Strong communication skills are essential.
